2018 Election Bios

DIRECTOR

Lester Cook CCSP –  is a 15 year veteran in the tax specialty service industry. He is the leader of KBKG’s Fixed Asset Review Practice. He is a certified member of the American Society of Cost Segregation professionals, a group that he has been a part of since 2008. Throughout his career, Lester has completed cost segregation analyses on thousands of properties ranging from office space leasehold improvements to multi-billion dollar industrial complexes and hotel and resort projects. He has worked with many Fortune 500 companies successfully representing his claims to both IRS and Financial Auditors.

Prior to KBKG, Lester led the PwC Central Region Cost Segregation Center of Excellence; providing engineering based Cost Segregation project management, oversight, and expertise to all other fixed assets teams throughout the U.S. and Canada. He was a recipient of the 2008 PwC Greater Chicago Market Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Leadership. Lester was born and raised in Northwest Indiana and is the head of the KBKG Chicago Office. He earned a Bachelor in Construction Management from Purdue University.

Malik Javed CCSP –  is a Principal and oversees engineering operations for Cost Segregation projects at KBKG. Since joining KBKG in 2004, Malik has performed thousands of Cost Segregation studies. Malik has also successfully represented KBKG’s clients in an IRS audit. He has been invited to speak to thousands of CPAs by some of the most prominent associations in the industry.  He is a Certified member of the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals (ASCSP) and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals.  He is also served on the ASCSP Technical Standards Committee.  While on the Technical Committee, he assisted to update the Minimum Quality Standards for Cost Segregation Studies.

Kevin Johnson  CCSP –  With over 20 years of tax advisory experience, Kevin Johnson leads the national cost segregation practice for ICS Tax, LLC. Prior to ICS, Kevin spent over a decade with RSM US LLP and was national leader of their Tangible Property Services group. In this capacity, he was responsible for the technical quality and financial performance of the cost segregation, energy credits and incentives, and the fixed asset service lines. He was also instrumental in leading that firm’s response to the Tangible Property Regulations by providing national trainings, thought leadership, and development of tools and processes to assist tax preparers and clients adopt these new rules. Prior to McGladrey, he spent over six years with Big Four accounting firms. Kevin has completed cost segregation studies on thousands of properties nationwide, including light to heavy manufacturing facilities, multi-tenant office buildings and corporate headquarters, hospitals, hotels and casinos, sport stadiums, data centers, various alternative energy properties, and retail facilities ranging from fast food restaurants to regional shopping centers. Additionally, Kevin has performed various energy credit and incentive projects for a multitude of green construction/renovation projects for both public and private sectors. Kevin is a LEED AP and a Certified Member of the ASCSP.

Eddie Price  CCSP –  is a Certified member of the ASCSP and has been a Society member since 2008.  He has served the Board of Directors as a past Secretary and most recently as a Board Member.  He has also been a past Chair of the Education Committee and currently serves on the Testing Committee.  While on the Education Committee, he oversaw the NASBA review process which led to our ability to provide CPE to attendees of our educational events as well as the development of courses on “Introduction to Cost Segregation” and the “Minimum Quality Standards” and other publications from the committee.  Eddie lives in Euless, Texas and works as a Director at KBKG, Inc.

Rob Rahner CCSP – is the Managing Director for Cost Recovery Solutions, LLC. Rob has more than 20 years of cost segregation and tangible asset appraisal experience ranging from Big 4 to start-up environments. He has been an active member of the ASCSP for the last ten years including serving as the Chair of the Education Committee for the past several years. Rob has a Mechanical Engineering degree and MBA from Rutgers University, and is a CFA charterholder and Accredited Senior Appraiser with the ASA.

 

SECRETARY

Ashley Sullivan – has been a Society member since 2013, she has served on the Board of Directors as Secretary since 2016, participated on the marketing committee and is chair of the conference committee. While Chair of the Conference Committee she oversaw the development of the 10th anniversary annual conference for the Society. Ashley is from Virginia Beach, VA and works as the Manager of the VA office for MS Consultants, LLC.

 

 

VICE PRESIDENT

Curt Gautreau CCSP-  Curt is President of Cost Segregation Initiatives and a Certified Member of the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals, CCSP.  He has been involved in the consultation with CPA’s and or directly with real estate owners and developers on a national basis for the benefits and implementation of Cost Segregation and the surrounding taxation issues for the past 15 years.  He areas of specialization include Real Estate Taxation, Depreciation, Accounting Method Changes, Passive Losses and Capitalization Rules.  Curt currently serves as the Chair of the Technical Standards Committee of the American Society of Cost Segregation Professionals.  He is a member of the AICPA, past president of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Louisiana Society of CPA’s, and a member of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization (Y.E.O.)
